2-Ingredient Taste-Safe Cloud Dough
Soft, silky, and moldable — this two-ingredient dough is the perfect quick win for hands that want to touch everything.
If you've got a toddler who wants to touch everything, this one's for you. Cloud dough (some folks call it moon sand) is soft, silky, and moldable — it holds its shape when you squeeze it and crumbles apart when you poke it. Best of all, it's just two ingredients you already have.
What you'll need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup vegetable oil or baby oil
- Optional: a spoonful of cocoa powder, or a drop of food coloring, for color
- A big bowl or a shallow bin to play in
The magic ratio is 8 parts flour to 1 part oil. Want more? Just keep that 8-to-1 rhythm going.
Let's make it
- Pour. Add the flour to your bowl.
- Drizzle. Slowly add the oil while you mix with your hands or a fork.
- Squeeze test. Grab a handful and press — if it holds its shape, it's ready. Too crumbly? Add a tiny bit more oil, a teaspoon at a time.
- Play! Add scoops, cups, cookie cutters, and little toys and let the squishing, molding, and pouring begin.
